(formerly Colorado, Geordie Jack and Caledonia)
From the Highlands come the award winning band THE JACKS (formerly known as COLORADO).
Members of the band have changed over the time, but the distinctive core sound has stayed. The band is centred around the JACK family from the small village of Golspie and features KEVIN & TREVOR JACK sons of original member GEORDIE JACK along with co-founder DADO DUNCAN, who are both still core to the band. Since they formed Colorado in 1978 the band have toured in over 26 coutries with some of the biggest names in country at many famous venues including the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. They have released 10 albums, featured on radio, TV and were voted top UK country band for 9 years in succession. Playing original and favourite songs, the crowds love the party good time atmosphere which the band brings to the stage and these guys always leave a happy audience. They blend country, with folk and rock using fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitars, accordion, drums & thick harmony vocals like no other band.
By public demand, they are actively going from strength to strength, with fresh recordings and high-energy performances at festivals in the U.K. and Europe this year and next. The JACKS excite their audiences with a wide range of self-penned material and popular favourites. They stir their audiences with their up-tempo songs and tunes, doubling up on vocal harmonies and instrumentals featuring banjo, mandolin and fiddle on top of a solid back-line drums, bass, acoustic and lead guitars. Constantly changing lead instruments adds variety to their solid tight harmonies. Very much a professional standard country based band with folk and rock influences. |

Katie Rhodes was born in Manchester into a large Irish family. Many of her sisters and brothers are very talented musicians and vocalists. While Katie was young, her parents and siblings had an Irish/Country band which travelled all over the UK and Europe
Her favourite songs she likes to perform are power ballads, to show her vocal talent, but knows that she can't sing those kind of songs all night long!

Brian Hughes are without doubt one of the UK's finest original material ‘Americana' bands.
From the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond, Scotland, they have established themselves as a ‘hot ticket act' in the UK festival scene where they have set the standard in original material shows, and are now viewed as contenders for the ‘Next Big Thing'.
With three successful album releases behind them, and a fourth currently in production, Brian's songs are the rock on which the live performance is built. Wonderful musicianship accompanied with professional attitude and commitment guarantees no one leaves a LoneShark show not impressed, this being clearly evident by the evergrowing fanbase. The songs have been recognised by leading US music house Atlanta Music Group who immediately offered Brian a songwriter contract. He was thereafter invited to travel Stateside to play shows in Nashville, Tennessee and Atlanta. Georgia. website

The Thomas Fraser story is a remarkable piece of Scottish music history. From 1953 - 1977 he recorded thousands of songs at his home, in Burra Isle Shetland,on a reel-to-reel tape recorder.
" Thomas’ musical idol was without doubt the ‘singing brakeman’, Jimmie Rodgers. At an early age, Thomas constantly practised Rodgers’ style, perfecting the yodeling and guitar playing to such an extent that the similarity would, at times, become uncanny".
25 years later we get to hear 25 tracks of these lost recordings on CD. A fascinating collection of recordings featuring Thomas's clear strong voice and guitar picking featuring songs of Jimmy Rogers, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, and other early country songs. |

Local Burra country singer Arthur Pottinger releases his new archive CD collection

The tracks were discovered during
the
process of restoring the Thomas Fraser material.

| another great collection of live down home country music - just Arthur and his guitar - brilliant. |
