Dear Friends
Welcome to the June/July Mag and hopefully to SUMMER! We had some glorious weather while I was working on the Mag, lets hope it continues and we get the promised good summer. After last year I think we have earned it.
I must tell you about 2 new bands on the road in Scotland. One is a new friend, and one is an old friend. The new friend is Lee Blackstone. He played our club along with Ian Robertson, and you could see everybody sit up as soon as he started. What a voice! You can read all about him on page 31. And take my advise, book him soon, or he just might be all booked up. The old friend is not old of course, its just that we have all known her for a long time...Angie King, who you’ll remember from the John C. King Family Band, has decided to get back on the road, and you can book her as a solo. It’ll be great to hear her lovely voice again, so get booking!!
BJ Colt and Dakota Rose have started a new site where you can have a chat with your Country & Western friends. The address is: www.thewesternroundup.myfastforum.org and I really think you should have a look. Its very well set up, and has loads of info on it….and it looks good fun!
Take care and ‘Keep it Country’, Brigitte.

Last November 30th our niece Leanne Strachan and her partner Mark Baker sadly had a stillborn baby at 36 weeks ..., she was a beautiful baby called Lauren. It was a terrible shock, and they both are really struggling to come to terms with this.
Both have received support and help from SANDS. (SANDS is a charity for Stillborn and Neonatal death. SANDS offers support for parents and their families whose babies are stillborn or die during or soon after birth. Charity Registration No 299679).
Leanne and her friend Laura Crichton have decided to walk the West Highland Way to raise money for SANDS, and hopefully get sponsored to do this.
The Way links Milngavie to Fort William – a distance of 152km (95 miles) - from the outskirts of Scotland’s largest city to the foot of its highest mountain, following the shores of its largest freshwater loch. It passes from the lowlands, across the Highland Boundary Fault and on into the Scottish Highlands. This will take place at the end of June.
I would like to ask you if you are able and willing to help and sponsor Leanne, every little helps and would be appreciated soo much. If you can help, it can be done via the webpage Leanne has set up, and you can get all the details at www.justgiving.com/laurenbaker1 |
